The programs at FNE should be molded to fit the needs of the people with whom we work; we should not expect these people to mold themselves to any pre-determined program(s).

Programs and Services

We offer your choice of Day or Residential Services. Program participant's photo used with permission.

Residential Support

FNE’s residential supports focus on daily living skills such as meal preparation, laundry, grocery shopping, and helping people to enjoy their leisure time.

We are developing a residential model that provides a cluster of apartments on the farmstead. Each building is designed with four one-bedroom apartments surrounding a common room and are ADA compliant and handicap accessible.

In most buildings there will be a live-in mentor in one of the apartments to help with overnight support. Each building is staffed in accordance with the needs of the individuals living there. These apartments give each person maximum privacy and the chance to be as independent as they are able while also having as much support as is needed for safety and the companionship of friends nearby.

We completed the first two of these buildings in January 2008. One of these new buildings is designed and staffed to support people who have significant needs, including 1:1 supervision during waking hours and

awake overnight support. The second building is home to four individuals who are able to live fairly independently. We expect to start construction on the next two buildings within a year.

We will have a maximum of 6 of these buildings on the Farmstead. Meanwhile we also have our original main house which is a certified residence for three people who require 24-hour support in a 1:3 ratio. Each person has a large private bedroom and shares the remainder of the house.

We also have two efficiency apartments in a building adjacent to the main house for people who need somewhat less than 24 hour supervision

Respite Services

FNE also provides respite services to people as young as age 14 years. People coming for respite join in with the usual schedule of activities on the Farmstead.

While respite is almost always available during waking hours, we can only provide overnight respite when we have a vacancy.

Transportation

FNE can also accept additional people in our farm-based day services. We can provide transportation to and from the Farmstead within approximately ½-hour drive of Hillsborough, inclusive of the city of Manchester. (If coming from a considerable distance, we may need 3 or 4 people coming from that area to meet at a common location in order to make the transportation costs reasonable.)
